VRCA is pleased to have added three new CCDC seminars to the Education Calendar for this August.

The first is a half-day seminar on August 29 from 1-4:30 p.m. on Construction Management Contracts. Construction Management (CM) form of project delivery takes a team approach to the construction process. The concept joins the owner, consultant and contractor in a team whose objective is to deliver the project with emphasis on time, budget and constructability. VRCA has not offered this course before.

On August 30, we’re offering two half-day sessions, with a bonus lunch.

The morning agenda consists of Project Delivery – Choosing the Best Method, which will review the new CCDC 10 and CCDC 30 documents. This topic will appeal to all stakeholders on a construction project, including owners, procurement authority representatives, consultants, contractors, and any party involved in the construction project supply chain.

The afternoon agenda is entitled Understanding Procurement and Contracting. This session will focus on some of the best practices during construction procurement and contracting. This session will be of particular interest to owners, consultants, specification writers, contractors, and all stakeholder impacted by the procurement and contracting process.

If you register for either the morning or afternoon session, you will have the option to attend a bonus luncheon featuring information on new and updated CCDC documents:

  • CCDC 9A and 9B: Statutory Declarations – statements used as a condition of receiving payment for either the second and subsequent applications for progress payment or the release of holdback funds
  • CCDC 11: Contractors Qualification Statement – standard form for obtaining information on capacity, skill and experience of Contractors bidding on building construction projects
  • CCDC 40: Mediation and Arbitration Rules – specifically designed to be used with the dispute resolutions of CCDC contract forms and are incorporated by reference, most notably CCDC 2

Some of you may recognize the course content for the August 30 session. This is a repeat of the sold-out session we held at Douglas College on May 11.

Both of these sessions are now open for registration. Please click the linked dates above to go straight to the registration page.
