{"id":15244,"date":"2018-10-22T13:18:33","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T20:18:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vrca.ca\/?p=15244"},"modified":"2018-11-15T13:34:31","modified_gmt":"2018-11-15T21:34:31","slug":"changes-to-the-non-road-diesel-engine-emission-regulation-bylaw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vrca.ca\/blog\/2018\/10\/22\/changes-to-the-non-road-diesel-engine-emission-regulation-bylaw\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes to the Non-Road Diesel Engine Emission Regulation Bylaw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Metro Vancouver will hold an online meeting Oct. 24 to discuss the changes to Metro Vancouver Regional District Non-Road Diesel Engine Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1161, which goes into effect Jan. 1, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>The bylaw changes aim to improve air quality by managing older, higher-polluting non-road diesel engines, which can negatively affect health and contribute to climate change and reduced visibility.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will cover:<\/p>\n<p>Changes to The Low-Use Category on Jan. 1, 2019<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New quarterly requirements for reporting engine hours<\/li>\n<li>Reporting deadlines four times per year: April 15, July 15, Oct. 15 and Jan. 15<\/li>\n<li>Engines must have a non-resettable hour meter to qualify for low-use registration<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other Approved Changes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>New definitions, including smoke opacity<\/li>\n<li>Date of prohibition for unregistered Tier 1 engines moved to Jan. 31, 2020<\/li>\n<li>Clarified bylaw language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The meeting will take place on Oct. 24 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. For more information and to register for the meeting, please <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metrovancouver.org\/services\/Permits-regulations-enforcement\/non-road-diesel\/changes-nrde-bylaw-1161\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Metro Vancouver will hold an online meeting Oct. 24 to discuss the changes to Metro Vancouver Regional District Non-Road Diesel Engine Emission Regulation Bylaw No. 1161, which goes into effect Jan. 1, 2019.
