Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.<\/p>\n<p>The VRCA office will remain <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>open<\/strong><\/span> to meet the needs of our members, most of whom will remain open. To honour the intention of the day, the Association is hosting a team awareness event, and encourages the construction community to also partake in a complimentary webinar hosted by Results Unleashed: <a href=\"https:\/\/my.vrca.ca\/page\/events%20calendar\/ezlist_ngevents.aspx#\/detail\/8027301\"><em>Truth, Reconciliation, and Our Way Forward.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In lieu of purchasing orange t-shirts, VRCA will be donating $25 for each staff member to support <a href=\"https:\/\/reconciliationcanada.ca\/\">Reconciliation Canada<\/a>, an active organization that provides programs and initiatives to inspire positive change in communities throughout Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Their current programs and initiatives include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reconciliation Dialogue Sessions and Action Plans<\/li>\n<li>Economic Reconciliation Action Plans<\/li>\n<li>Reconciliation-Based Leadership Training &amp; Core Competencies Assessments<\/li>\n<li>Public Awareness and Education<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To contribute and make a donation, please click <a href=\"https:\/\/reconciliationcanada.ca\/get-involved\/donate\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The VRCA team will wear their own orange shirts at the office to raise awareness of the tragic legacy of residential schools, and to honour the thousands of Survivors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; September 30, 2021 marks the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
