Vancouver, B.C. – November 14, 2025 – The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) welcomes today’s announcement of a $241-million investment in trades training – a welcome move arriving at exactly the moment B.C. needs it most.
With billions being injected into the built environment – from housing and hospitals to transit, clean energy, and industrial projects – the pressure on B.C.’s construction workforce has never been greater. Companies are geared up, communities are counting on progress, and the only thing slowing the momentum is the shortage of skilled people who make these projects possible.
“VRCA members have been clear, if we want to build what British Columbia needs, we need to grow the workforce that makes it possible to build tomorrow’s communities,” says VRCA President Jeannine Martin.
As the voice of construction in the Lower Mainland, VRCA will work with members, industry partners, post-secondary institutions, and government to ensure this investment delivers real results on the ground.
“It starts with better access to training, but it’s also about inspiring people at a younger age,” said Martin. “This year alone, our Bring Trades to School program introduced more than 580 students to hands-on careers in construction, and we’re working with BCCA and Honour the Work to spark that curiosity even sooner. That’s how we help build the workforce of tomorrow.”
