Member Code of Conduct

Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to establish clear expectations for behaviour, promote a culture of respect, integrity, and professionalism, and ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all members.

Scope

This Code applies to all employees, members, event attendees and volunteers while engaging in activities organized by the VRCA.

1. Core Values

We are committed to fostering an environment that upholds the following values:

  • Respect: Treat everyone with dignity and kindness.
  • Integrity: Act honestly and ethically in all interactions.
  • Inclusivity: Embrace diversity and create a welcoming space for all.
  • Accountability: Take responsibility for your actions and decisions.

2. Expected Behaviour

All members are expected to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and organizational policies.
  • Communicate respectfully and avoid discriminatory or offensive language.
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Use organizational resources responsibly and ethically.
  • Report any violations of this Code promptly.

3. Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours are strictly prohibited:

  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind.
  • Violence, threats, or intimidation.
  • Sexually suggestive activities, comments, jokes, gestures, or materials that could be perceived as offensive or inappropriate.
  • Theft, fraud, or misuse of property.
  • Engaging in illegal activities.
  • Any actions that harm the reputation or safety of the organization/community.

4. Reporting and Enforcement

  • Reporting Violations: If you witness or experience a violation of this Code, please report it to the President at president@vrca.ca or by phone at (604) 294-3766.
  • Investigation: All reports will be taken seriously and investigated promptly and confidentially.
  • Consequences: Violations may result in disciplinary actions, including warnings, suspension, termination, or legal action.

5. Acknowledgement

By participating in the VRCA, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Failure to comply will result in appropriate corrective measures.
