On March 7 YWCA Metro Vancouver announced 66 nominees in 11 categories for its 2019 Women of Distinction Awards. The Awards honour individuals and organizations whose outstanding activities and achievements contribute to the well-being and future of our communities.

Congratulations to the 2019 YWCA’s Women of Distinction Awards nominees that include our president, Fiona Famulak, and individuals from VRCA members, the City of Surrey, the University of British Columbia and the Vancouver Airport Authority! Award winners in each category will be announced at the 36th annual YWCA Women of Distinction Awards dinner at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver on Monday, May 13, 2019.

Each nominee is also eligible for the YWCA Connecting the Community Award. Each nominee has provided a quote supporting one of five YWCA program areas. The nominee whose quote attracts the most public votes will donate $10,000, courtesy of Scotiabank, to her chosen YWCA program. Fiona chose YWCA’s housing program.

In the lead-up to May 13, Fiona therefore needs your help to win $10,000 for a worthy cause! View all quotes here and vote online for her quote before noon on April 19!

Since 1984, YWCA Metro Vancouver has paid tribute to more than 310 award recipients and 1,810 nominees.
