In anticipation of the upcoming federal election, the Canadian Construction Association developed an election advocacy website designed to express the construction industry’s issues directly to government by empowering members to easily send a pre-written letter to their local Member of Parliament or election candidate.

The website lists CCA’s 2019 advocacy priorities, what CCA is asking for from the federal government, and how industry stakeholders can help.

CCA has identified four pillars of concern:

  • Strengthening investor confidence: CCA is urging the federal government to remove any further regulatory delays to the Trans Mountain expansion project;
  • Infrastructure planning: CCA believes that the Government of Canada must commit to a 25-year plan for infrastructure spending in Canada;
  • Supporting innovation: CCA is asking the federal government to become a partner in innovation with the construction industry; and
  • Attracting a skilled workforce: CCA is calling on the federal government to increase funding for career and technical training programs.

VRCA members are encouraged to participate in the process by visiting construction4cdns.ca and sending a pre-written letter that expresses their concerns. The pre-written letter can be submitted to your local Member of Parliament in less than two minutes and only requires your postal code, name, and address. There is strength in numbers and the more letters our government receives, the more the construction industry’s voice is heard.

Canadians head to the polls October 21 to elect a new federal government.
