Did you know that most Canadian construction businesses are eligible for Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) investment tax credits? SR&ED tax credits are offered by the federal government to offset the cost of innovation and problem-solving in the construction industry.
As presented at last week’s Division meetings, the Canadian Construction Association (CCA), Canadian Construction Innovations (CCI) and specialist construction business consultancy Invennt Ltd. have partnered to raise awareness and educate businesses in the construction sector about SR&ED tax relief and to help them secure SR&ED tax credits, thereby funding continued innovation in their businesses.
“Our members innovate every day, be it developing new processes, technologies or simply resolving the problems they face on site,” said Fiona Famulak, VRCA president. “Through this partnership, we’re helping our members access the tax credits that are available to them, which in turn helps them reinvest in their business.”
On Wednesday, Dec. 4, CCA’s CONnected webinar series will feature Tim Fitch, director, Invennt Ltd. who will discuss SR&ED for Canadian construction businesses. By attending the webinar you will learn:
- The importance of looking at regular operations differently in order to appreciate how innovative the construction industry really is;
- What are SR&ED tax credits, and how to leverage them to help your business; and
- What processes qualify, and the steps required to obtain SR&ED tax credits.
