On May 26, 2026, the Ministry of Infrastructure released its Construction Prompt Payment Act CPPA Discussion Paper, advancing the next critical phase in delivering payment certainty for British Columbia’s construction industry.
The B.C. Construction Association (BCCA), alongside regional construction association partners including the VRCA, is collaboratively leading a comprehensive industry submission in response to the discussion paper. This work includes engagement with BCCA’s Industry Practices Committee, Board of Directors, regional associations, and partner organizations to ensure broad industry representation.
As the work continues, the BCCA has shared additional opportunities for engagement as we work together towards a strong, coordinated industry response. We encourage your continued involvement and invite you to contribute, access the information you need, and participate in the process as the industry moves closer to this new reality.
Here are four ways to help shape payment certainty in B.C.:
- Review the CPPA Discussion Paper to understand the key components to the proposed legislation and identify areas where industry feedback is being sought.
- Explore BCCA’s comprehensive resources on the Construction Prompt Payment Act, including background information, FAQs, and previous advocacy materials.
- Join the June 25 webinar to review the Discussion Paper, discuss key issues, and help shape the industry’s response.
- Connect with the BCCA. Whether you’re a business, worker, association, or industry stakeholder, you’re invited to contact BCCA Industry Practices Specialist Katy Fairley at katy.fairley@bccassn.com.
