Vancouver, B.C. – April 7, 2026 – The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) is proud to celebrate Construction and Skilled Trades Month this April, joining industry partners across British Columbia in recognizing the people and projects shaping our communities.
Now in its ninth year, Construction Month is a province-wide initiative that highlights the critical role construction plays in shaping British Columbia’s economy, infrastructure, and future workforce. From housing and hospitals to transportation and essential infrastructure, construction is a driving force across the province powered by the skilled professionals who bring projects to life every day.
The VRCA kicked off the month by hosting their annual Construction Month Breakfast on April 1, hosting well over 100 construction professionals from across the Lower Mainland.
“Construction Month is an opportunity to recognize the people behind the impact,” said Jeannine Martin, President of VRCA. “In B.C., the construction industry contributes 9.2% to the provincial GDP and employs over 260,000 workers. These people are building more than projects – they’re building communities, careers, and a stronger future. They are the drivers of the economy.”
Construction Month also underscores the growing need for a strong, skilled workforce. With demand for tradespeople continuing to rise, industry leaders are focused on expanding training, supporting apprenticeships, and creating pathways for the next generation of builders.
“At a time when our industry is navigating evolving demands and opportunities, investing in people has never been more important,” added Martin. “From workforce development programs to leadership initiatives, VRCA is committed to supporting the continued growth and success of our industry.”
Throughout April, VRCA encourages members and industry partners to celebrate Construction Month by showcasing their work, recognizing their teams, and sharing the impact construction has on our communities.
As part of the celebration, VRCA also encourages members to highlight their achievements by submitting a nomination for the 37th Annual Awards of Excellence by April 15. This is an opportunity to recognize outstanding projects, celebrate team success, and gain industry-wide recognition for VRCA members and their teams across the Lower Mainland.
