Vancouver, B.C. – August 14, 2025 — The Vancouver Regional Construction Association (VRCA) welcomes the Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services’ 2026 Budget Consultation Report, which recognizes key priorities for BC’s construction industry, including prompt payment, procurement reform, increased infrastructure investment, and workforce development.
VRCA thanks our partner, the BC Construction Association, and its President, Chris Atchison, whose tireless work and persistent advocacy have driven the prompt payment file forward and ensured it remains a top priority for government action.
“The report aligns perfectly with VRCA’s focus to evolve, unite, and amplify our industry for the future,” said Jeannine Martin, President of VRCA. “We look forward to working with the BCCA and provincial government to turn these recommendations into real action for our members and the communities they help build.”
The Report calls for the accelerated implementation of Prompt Payment legislation a long-overdue step that will strengthen cash flow, protect jobs, and give contractors the certainty they need to build with confidence. It’s a win that reflects the strength, resilience, and proven success of BC’s construction industry in delivering the projects that keep our province moving forward.
