April is Construction Month in B.C., and the Vancouver Regional Construction Association celebrated its members by hosting a breakfast on April 15.

“Construction Month celebrates the almost 250,000 men and women who work in our industry to build the state-of-the-art infrastructure and buildings in our communities throughout B.C.,” said VRCA President Fiona Famulak.

The annual celebration of the industry is an initiative of the BC Construction Association with the support of VRCA and its three regional construction partners and a long list of industry and corporate sponsors. The provincial government first proclaimed April as Construction Month in B.C. in 2018, and again this year.

Approximately 50 VRCA members enjoyed mixing and mingling with VRCA Board and team members, as well as networking with new contacts. They also watched a video produced by the BC Construction Association featuring trades men and women, industry leaders and politicians reading the Construction Month proclamation.

At the breakfast, VRCA president Fiona Famulak presented Life Member Tony Everett with a BCCA Construction Leadership Award for his contribution to the construction industry as a leader, mentor and long-term VRCA champion.

He was one of two Construction Leadership Award recipients nominated by VRCA as part of Construction Month. Mike Maierle, principal at ETRO Construction received his award from Fiona the previous week.
