VRCA golf tournament supports local charities

Golfers at the VRCA’s annual golf tournament on Friday raised nearly $3,000 to benefit three local charities: B.C. Children’s Hospital, Spinal Cord Injury BC and the Canucks Autism Network.

This year’s golf tournament was another sell out event, with 288 golfers hitting the links at Surrey’s Northview Golf & Country Club. The rain held off — and there were even reports of sunshine – allowing golfers to compete for a variety of prizes from closest the hole, longest drive, straightest drive, low score and the most-honest foursome.

Broadcaster Steve Darling was emcee for the dinner and awards. He also served as the celebrity “ringer” for the day, hitting shots for various foursomes around the course.

VRCA is grateful to the support of the member companies that sponsored this year’s golf tournament. Their sponsorship and support make events such as this possible.
