Our members shared with us that the skilled-labour shortage is the top issue keeping them up at night.
Join us therefore on Jan. 16 to get some fresh perspective on how to navigate B.C.’s skilled-labour shortage. In addition to hearing how members currently attract and retain talent, attendees will be encouraged to share their wish-list of services they need to recruit and retain workers so that VRCA can take appropriate next steps.
B.C.’s construction industry is facing a skilled-labour shortage of approximately 12,000 construction jobs by 2027. It will be particularly challenging from 2019 through 2021 when demand for construction services peaks and demand for skilled workers exceeds supply.
The three Division meetings scheduled for Jan. 15, 16 and 17 have been combined into one meeting on Jan. 16 to allow for this important conversation that affects members across all Divisions.
Division meetings are crucial to VRCA’s advocacy work – they are an opportunity to collect feedback from members regarding industry issues and to get members’ direction on how VRCA can best address those issues, locally, provincially and/or nationally.
The agenda for the combined Division meeting also includes Divisional Council chair and vice-chair elections.
The combined Division meeting will take place Jan. 16 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Vancouver Regional Construction Association office, 3636 East 4th Ave., Vancouver.
